ADVENTURE, Campaign,
and plot hook ideas
by David Knighthawk Simpson <dsknighthawk@yahoo.com>
This is a list of Adventure ideas, campaign plots, plot hooks, and just some other miscellaneous stuff which is fun to throw at your players.  You may notice that the majority of these items are very role-playing oriented, and not so much combat aimed.
  1. The party is hired to help defend a rain forest plot against developers: Objective - persuade the developers to abandon development.
  2. The party's rival (corporation usually) is heading out to head hunt a cyberpsychotic Netrunner who will be able to ruin the party's lives or their cause.  Objective - Turn the Netrunner to their side, or silence him if absolutely necessary.
  3. A party member's friend has been sold into slavery.  To find out the friend's fate, the party member must infiltrate an underground arena.  Objective - locate & rescue the friend.
  4. The predators have come to town, and they have a few days to kill.  Objective - the predators have chosen the party as good hunting, the players must simply survive (simple neh?) Stats are on this site.
  5. Demons in the sky?  Something weird is in the air, and it ain't the pollution this time.  Objective - uncover the mystery (best if this one strikes home some how)
  6. Have a player's input get pregnant, then when the kids are born, kill off the input.  Force the player to explain his occupation to his kids.  (This works best with Solos, fixers, and other "illegal" roles)
  7. "The first ones had rubber skins..."  A companies pursuit of the ultimate AI has produced more than they anticipated.  The company has now come to the party's hometown looking for people to bail em out of the menace they've created.  (Miniature Terminator 2 setting)
  8. "Concentrate on the power!"  Those mad scientists are at it again, and look what they've created this time! ( a rampaging psychic mainly)   Neat twist - the psychic is a child, a very EMOTIONAL child.
  9. "Oh give me a home..." Out on the plains, the characters roam.  This is so open ended you can just have fun with it.
  10. Wouldn't it be fun to play hide and seek on a cruise ship?  Have the party work security detail, add machine guns and see what happens.
  11. Ahh...nothing like a relaxing trip on a blimp, unless you're a player.  Oh and watch where you shoot!
  12. Have your player run into a street urchin (this one gets really fun).
  13. Have the player's sibling who he loves but hates him, start trying for vengeance!
  14. Wouldn't it be ironic if your bounty hunter was hired to take down his/her own input/output?  Neat twist - make the payment extraordinarily high, or something they "can't" turn down.
  15. Have your players find out something SHOCKING about themselves (like they are androids or something).
  16. Have your players be employed by an AI.
  17. Have your vengence-craving player be offered the means to achieve his ultimate revenge.  The cost is simple.  HIS SOUL!
  18. Get your character involved in a love triangle, in which it is actually DIFFICULT to chose.  (This works best in Cybergeneration)
  19. Have your character's fame get him/her a fan club!
  20. Have the party stand up for their country.  As much as a citizen might gripe about their country, there is a great pride in it.  Have the edgerunner underground respond to terrorists and people knocking their home country!
  21. Start a session with a dream sequence.
  22. Blackmail a player (real or fake).
  23. An airplane crashes or explodes and at the same time a scientist, fixer, or other person of intrigue goes missing, what is the connection? why have no claims been filed for the missing passengers? <inspired by DIRTY PAIR: Flight 005 Conspiracy>
  24. Your target: a female revolutionary     Your objective: Assassinate her   Twist: She's after bigger criminals, and has hired you to help her.
  25. Set loose an android that copies 1 character's every movement, and have the android follow that one PC everywhere.  When the android dies, or gets killed, have someone contact the followed PC and explain how it is a project gone wrong - then hires the PC or party to retrieve another android which has gained sentience and has taken refuge in the park with a group of homeless.  The employer wants the android back alive and perfectly intact.  (This means the PC's will have to REASON with the android, instead of just shooting everything)
  26. A woman's hand has been stolen, and she desperately wants it back.  (you make up the rest)
  27. The Inquisitors have formed a Rock group (but the affiliation isn't obvious), and they found a wave form that causes nanites to lose their programming and run wild!  Make the results of this anything you want.
  28. Players are sent to Mars to uncover why a base has stopped transmitting data.  You can make it just about any reason.  Anything from aliens, to viruses, to claustriphobia-induced psychopathic murder & suicides.
  29. Recruit the players to find a downed chopper in the jungles of Central America.
  30. The Old Switcheroo - The character is kidnapped in his/her sleep, and has his/her brain taken out of current body and put into a FULL-CONVERSION body (or into flesh body if already a conversion).  Make it a mystery until the player tries something.
  31. Characters have been mutated.
  32. Have the characters' equipment get sabotaged somehow.
  33. Copycatter has taken a shine to one (or more) of the party members.
  34. Rival Drug Syndicate has hired the party to exterminate another drug ring (distribution ring)
  35. Remember the movie SPECIES?
  36. Remember the movie C.H.U.D. ?
  37. The interpretor chip for new cyberware is defective, or is it?  Players go to investigate, hired by some local wareshops.  (This is one that my character's doing now) - Jason Gagwon
  38. Remember the movie MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS?
  39. Have that polite corp which the party has been investigating and have him hire them out only to plot their butts in prison.
